Battle of the Primers - De Leon Primer Vs Urban Decay Primer Potion

House Keeping – The De Leon primer was sent to me for consideration this in no way impacts on my personal beliefs and my opinion on this product!

Hey Beautiful People

So as this post title says this is another Indy vs Big Brand eye primer! Today we are looking at an Australian brand De Leon, now the owner of De Leon happens to be in a facebook group with me and as i missed out on the sample that was in some of the 2012 dec Bella Boxes she kindly sent me a sample of the primer and 2 eyeshadow samples which was super nice of her!

As always I like to really trial new products before I give any feedback and this primer has gone through some tough testing here in Australia the temp has been well over 45*c in my home town so I have been sweating up a storm! This Primer has stood up reasonably well against this abominable heat! The De Leon primer is being tested against my holy grail primer Urban Decay Primer potion in original.

For refrence I have VERY oily lids.

Ok Schematics! A full sized primer is 4g of products for $10 AUD and a clamshell sample is $2 AUD shipping varies but it starts at the $3.20 AUD and increases from there.

The  Texture is nice it has a slightly soft waxy feel but its not an unpleasant feeling , the formula applies smoothly with both finger and brush application. It applies very translucent over skin and doesn't pull on application. As with all primers I personally apply them with my fingers, there wasn't any unpleasant residue left after application.

No bases were used under eyeshadow for the purpose of this test. The Eye shadows applied well over the De Leon primer nil tugging or difficulties blending.

0940
Both Sides - freshly applied make up nil creasing

1215
De Leon - Some minor creasing to the inner corner and a slight patch forming in the outter V area
Urban decay - Nil creasing noted

1800
De Leon -  Furthing creasing to the inner corner and into the crease , outer V area has a mod 'bald' spot
Urban Decay - minor creasing to inner corner and come colour lightening to inner 1/3rd of lid

So after around 8 hrs of ware you can see the results the De Leon primer stood up fairly well it WAS a stinker of a day when i did these photos. I find on average i get a good 5-6 hrs wear (slightly longer wear time with a base)

Not quite a wear time as some other primers i have tried however I was impressed with the staying time considering how hot it has been here as of late.

Would I buy again? The Primer no as the wear time isnt GREAT on me I think this would be a good primer for people with dry/normal lids. On my Oily lids it just dosnt QUITE have the staying power However as a company sure would i would love to try out some of the lip colours i have heard some very good things =)

Have you Tried De Leon?

A Review - Geek Chic Scapers mini review

House Keeping – These three shades were sent to me for consideration to review all opinions are my own and are 100% honest. Any questions please feel free to email me at madaboutbeauty@hotmail.com

Hello Beautiful People

So here is a very quick little review on 3 of the shades in Geek Chic Cosmetics latest  Scapers collection I was sent these 3 shades for consideration to review, I was stoaked to get the Glitter to review I am a totally Glitter junkie so I was pretty excited to review... Sadly mother nautre has been against me its been cloudy/raining on and off FINALLY i had a very small window of sun and i swatched up a storm =) this is a new way of swatching i am trying out (so let me know what you think) it shades swatched over bareskin with Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy on top

The shades i recieved are Starburst, Frell! and Bonded to the stars Starburst is the glitter mix while Frell! and Bonded to the stars are pigments. The glitter is well mixed with a good ratio of colours it didnt feel gritty once my glitter base dried I couldnt feel it at all.

As for the pigments they are well blended and are fairly pigmented over bare skin as always I personally feel all loose pigments preform better over a base. The shades are smooth and blend well Bonded to the stars preforms better over a sticky base to really get the glitter to pop and not fall out.

So as always this collection is avaiable online at Geek Chic the whole collection is avaiable individually or you get by the entire collection (8 pigments and 1 glitter) at a discounted price. All the shadows are avaiable in sample sizes.

Samples come in Clam shells and for $1.25USD you get about a 'dash' of product PLENTY for multiple uses. Full Sized jars are $5.99 USD and you get 1g of product in a 5g jar with a sifter. The lip glosses are $4.99 each and the Glitter is 1g for $2.99. If you wanted to purchase the collection as a whole it is $39.99 which qualifys you for free shipping!

These colours were added to a order I had placed previously and was posted well within the stated TAT and were recieved in australia within around 2 weeks. I ordered the rest of the collection so that i can do a full review for you guys so when it gets here (and if mother nature stays kind haha) i will get them swatched and on here asap =)

Onto swatches and colour descriptions

A Review - My Pretty Zombie Su Madre Eyeshadow Trio

Hello Beautiful People

I have some pretty  neutral shadows to show you today =) I purchased the My Pretty Zombie (MPZ) Su Madre collection. The sweet owner of MPZ Andrea centred this collection around 3 very important women her mother, grandmother and great grandmother with the slogan These may not be your mom's browns, but they're mine. The Colours are all a brown based pigments with slight differences in shifts. These colours are not available individually, this Trio are packaged in cute square jars without sifters which totally rocks my world as I am not a big sifter fan.

All jars have 1.5g of product (measured by wt) for all my Vegan readers MPZ DOSE use animal products in her shades however if your and the listings dont specify if they are veagn or non vegan however the owner is very approachable and is always happy to answer any questions. Each listing has an individual ingrediens list the example below is of Doris Irene

mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide,d+c black #2, polyester 3,magnesium myristrate

Lets talk formula the shadows are very smooth  and pigmented as you will see in the swatches below they show up quite well (minus the shift) on bare skin which isnt overly common for many indy shades (on me in my experiance). The formula is very well blended with nil clumping or lumps.

The TAT is well within the stated time for international shipping the average is around 2-3 weeks MPZ's owner always includes a little 'gift' that fits in with her store I love how the shadows had a fake finger holding the bow it was a cute. All items were packaged very securely I cant comment on current shipping prices as international shipping prices have increased in the USA most indys are currently in the process of re-organising shipping costs.

Dolores Ann
MPZ Description - my mom. She just got a half sleeve tattoo and walks around all gangster with her sleeve rolled up. Also thought WTF meant "wednesday thursday friday" - Medium warm red brown shimmer
My Description - A warm brown with a soft to med copper shift

Doris Irene
MPZ Description - my mom's mom. She was "granny" to us and let us sneak sips from her scotch and soda as soon as we could walk. Dark, ashy red brown shimmer
My Description - A medium/dark red brown with a gold shift

Martha Bertha Anna-
MPZ Description - my mom's grandma. She never wore shoes and her first husband may or may not have been a bank robber. Allegedly. - Champagne-y light red brown shimmer
My Description - A  Taupe brown with a champagne shift

Doris Ann and Doris Irene are VERY similar shades but are very pretty my fave in this collection is Martha Bertha Anna it is a very universal colour and can be paired with a wide range of shades. Would I purchase from MPZ again sure, if it wasn't for the cute colours, and smooth formula the customer service is great I highly recommend MPZ.

Whats your Favourite memory of you mother, grandmother, aunt etc

Final thoughts: The shades are very pigmented and smooth, the no sifter is a bonus for me if its a deal breaker for you you can purchase sifters on various sites like eBay. The square jars make for super easy storage as you can get them to fit snugly. TAT is well within its limits

Lip Glosses Colour Description
Banished
GCC Description - Banished is an inky, nearly opaque deep indigo lip gloss. It is laced with a beautiful violet interference and a burst of gorgeous purple sparkles. Used sparsely, Banished is a fantastic layering gloss that adds a little vamp and oomph to your lighter toned colors, but can be easily built up to full opacity.Banished is a sweet treat to wear with its tasty buttercream frosting flavoring. Really pops and gets great wear time when paired with a lip primer.

It is a sassy explosion of a whole rainbow of sparkles in minty green, vibrant violet, a splash of aqua, all intermingled with holo sparkle too! Benevolent has a secret side to it. When in the right light it has an incredible spring green shift that almost appears to float on top of the pink. It goes on nearly opaque and tastes like a sweet mint julep
My Description - A Bright bubblegum Pink with holo-sparkle mod to full opaque with a miny taste.

Overall i feel this is quite a cute collection! the colours are all fairly true to the character, I DO feel something is missing but cant put my finger on it... maybe if there was an additional shadow more neutral to tie it all together?

What was your favourite colour in this collection?

Final thoughts: Overall I enjoy this collection and while I am a self-confessed glitter addict I feel a green pigment would have helped tie the whole collection together. The glosses really require a smooth primed lip to glide on and not grab at flaky lips in a way remnding me of Matte lipsticks. A Sticky base like DG glitterglue or Fyrinnae PE is deff recommended.

Hello Beautiful People

Lets take a look at another MMU company Moi Minerals =) I Bought the M.O.B.S (or Men Of the Big Screen) collection a while ago and FINALLY got around to swatching it for you all!

So this Collection is avaiable in 3g with 1/4tsp of product ($8.00 USD) or 5g sifter jar with 3/4 tsp ($20.00 USD)

The Collection has 4 unique colours all named after a well known famous man Olyphant, Cage, Statham and Depp. The Colours are very pigmented over a base on bare skin they do become slightly washed out which is common with loose pigments. There is some glitter in these shades however they are not glitter bombs.

Moi Minerals is a Canadian based company who will ship world wide, I have ordered through Moi for a while all items are send withing the TAT however shipping from Canada takes a while averaging 4-5 weeks to Australia So if your ordering for a last minute gift keep in mind it DOSE take a little longer. Onto swatches and descriptions.

Colour Descriptions

Olyphant
Moi Description - A lovely teal blue/green with multitone sparks
My Description - A Blue/green shade with a lighter blue duo

Cage
Moi Description - Is loaded with multi shades of color changing sparks over a lovely taupe base.
My Description - A Champaign taupe with loads of silver holo glitter

Statham
Moi Description - Deep pumpkin orange with sparks that shift from red to orange to pink.
My Description - A Bright orange with a golden duo chrome

Depp
Moi Description - Purple/Mauve Loaded with sparks of green & gold.
My Description - A Berry shade with silver shimmer and green glitter

Final thoughts:  The Colours are very pigmented and apply smoothly, once swatched look more complex then in the jar. These Pigments need a bast to really make them pop over bare skin they do appear very washed out not showing their sparkle. I did fint that over a white base these shades lost a lot ov shimmer becoming more satin, where as over a black base they shimmered and appeared brighter.

Hello Beautiful people

Today we are going to look at an Australian brand, as far as I can tell Designer Brands is only available in Australia I've been checking with a few lovely ladies in the UK and USA none have seen it there.

Designer Brands is a 'pharmacy' brand of makeup the selection is quite limited (esp in my local Pharmacy) I did pick up a few things including this lip pencil I paid around $4 AUS dollars for it.

Its a full size product  around about 1.2g of product, I love Lip liners however I don't seem to have many so I picked a fairly versatile shade of pink. My pharmacy didnt have any testers avaiable so i went into this purchase blind. Upon taking this item home and swatching I was dissapointed the pigmentation was poor it kept skipping, the pencil was very hard it really was dragging accross my skin. I love to support Local brands however this was not a quality Australian product.

several passes of the liner was required for this swatch
Would i recommend this product... Hell to the no it was very harsh on the skin and kept skipping I acctually ended up throwing this product out even after heating with a hairdryer slightly didnt improve the quality.

Whats a product you Regret buying?
